M: What branch year?
K: US Marine Corps 1986
M: and also the Branch
K: … Us Marine Corps
M: So, In terms of questions about you being a veteran, what made you want to serve?
K: Grandfather; Following his foot steps
M: What type of work did you see yourself doing when your originally joined the marines?
K: Aviation working on jets
M: Is Veterans Day is important to you
K: Sure because people volunteer to risk their life and its good way to recognize those that fought for the country
M: were your drafter or enlist?
Enlist
M: Where were you living at at the time?
NY
M: No where did you go, where was your bases? Where did you go what war?
K : It was war time Lebanon war and I lived in Memphis, TN and California
M: And you didn’t see any casualties, right? nothing like that?
K: No casualties
M: How did you stay in touch with family?
K: Telephone, - on a base
M: What it feels like to be away from your family?
K: isolated
M : What did you do for entertainment?
K: drink
M: Do you recall a humorous event?
K: Woke up in the bathroom on the floor
people serve when they are very young they do feel isolated and rink a lot that’s the story
M: Mental health
K: … Re-assimilate to society
K: Mandatory therapy
K: Cause even if you don’t go to war you still come home and you are just living by yourself and it takes a while to adjust being around people no in the military
M: So more programs for housing?
K: With reasimiiation in to civilian population
K: There should be a plan
M: Do you Continue any relationships that you made in the military?
K: Yes, a few.
M: Did the military help pay for your education?
K: Yes, first year
M: Once you come back how long did it take for you to readjust into society did anything change because grandma said one thing she noticed you folded your clothes and put them up in a certain way like things like that did you notice that it changed your perception of life
K: Yeah it changes your habits you become more diesoline
M: Are you apart of any Veteran organization?
K: No
M: Did your military experience influence you thinking on war?
K: Yes
M: What way especially now
K: I think that a lot of people that go in young and got in trouble and got kicked out for discharges, um I don’t know if 18 may be too young for the service there has to be some way to get the proper habits.
M: Is there anything you want to add that we have not covered in this interview
K: I think overall positive experience, it’s not for everyone because if you have tendency to be a follower you can get yourself in trouble and impact the rest of your life. *
